Luís B. Sardinha is the current President and a Full Professor of Exercise Prescription and Functional Body Composition and Energy Regulation at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, Portugal. He was trained in Exercise and Sports Science, earning a M. Sc. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Kansas, USA and a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Lisbon. In 1997, he did a post-doc at the Body Composition Laboratory, Department of Physiology, College of Medicine, University of Arizona, USA. Professor Luís B. Sardinha has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers and has been investigator and PI in several national and international multicentric research projects, including the European Youth Heart Study that had a significant contribution to the field of physical activity and health in youth. The focus of his research has been the development of methods and models of human body composition and investigating graded and dose-response relationships between sedentary behavior, physical activity and fitness with physiological attributes across the life span and related mechanisms with randomized clinical trials, especially within the scope of obesity, cardiovascular, type 2 diabetes, and oncology.
