He studies the relationship between physical activity, anthropometry and the risk of cardiometabolic diseases and cancer in epidemiological studies. Michael’s doctoral research focused on the timing of physical activity, specifically whether the time of day people are active influences mortality, cancer risk, and adiposity and diabetes.

Following his PhD work, he is conducting large-scale proteomic studies to assess the underlying biological mechanisms linking physical activity to health outcomes.
